delta 10

What is Delta-10?

Delta-10 has various different names, such as delta-10 tetrahydrocannabinol, delta-10-THC, or it could also be written as Δ10-THC. It’s a semi-synthetic compound with a similar structure to the main psychoactive component in cannabis, which is delta-9, but delta-10 is a different isomer. Delta-10 has a double bond on the 10th bond of the carbon chain, hence its name, whereas delta-9 is on the 9th bond. In fact, delta-10 shares more structural similarities to CBD, delta-8, and hexahydrocannabinol (HHC).

This slight difference in structure means the psychoactive effects of delta-10 differ from other cannabis extracts. Delta-10 is known to produce a more relaxing and potentially productive “high” than that of delta-9. Existing research also suggests delta-10 can produce a feeling of relaxation, alleviate anxiety, and may also have anti-inflammatory properties that can reduce pain, making it useful for medical cannabis purposes.

Is Delta-10 legal?

Delta-10 is a psychoactive form of THC, so its legal status depends on how much is contained in each product. According to the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 2010, cannabis products are legal unless they contain over 1mg of THC in their final preparation. Essentially, this means delta-10 may be legal or illegal, depending on its concentration.

In 2018, medical cannabis became legal with a prescription from a specialist doctor, so delta-10 may also be used for the treatment of various health conditions.
