I’m 62, and I’ve lived with migraines for most of my adult life. They don’t come every day, but when they hit, they’re debilitating — intense pain behind my eyes, nausea, sensitivity to light and sound. I’d often lose an entire day, sometimes more.
Over the years, I tried everything my GP and neurologist offered: triptans, preventatives, strong painkillers. Some gave temporary relief, but most came with side effects — dizziness, grogginess, stomach upset. I was tired of feeling worse in other ways just to treat the pain.
What I really needed was something I could take as soon as a migraine started — fast, reliable, and without a long list of side effects. I’d heard about medical cannabis and, with some hesitation, gave it a try. I use a small amount of cannabis flower in a dry herb vaporiser, only when I feel a migraine coming on — and for me, it works.
Within 15 or 20 minutes, the pain starts to ease. The nausea doesn’t build. I don’t lose the rest of my day. It helps me stay clear-headed enough to function, without feeling sedated or out of control.
I’m not someone who uses cannabis regularly or recreationally. I use it when I need it — and at 62, I’m just grateful to have finally found something that works without making everything else worse.
