“I finally feel like myself again.”

Condition(s):Fibromyalgia

I’m 48, and for years I was barely living. Fibromyalgia had taken over every part of my life — the pain was constant, unpredictable, and exhausting. Nights were the worst. I couldn’t sleep, no matter how tired I was. I felt trapped in my body. All I had was a growing list of painkillers, including opiates, which dulled things just enough to get by, but never enough to feel alive again.

I had to give up work. I stopped seeing friends. I stopped planning for anything. Every day was just about surviving.

When medical cannabis was suggested, I was hesitant. I didn’t know much about it, and honestly, I wasn’t sure anything could help. But I felt heard, and for the first time in a long time, I felt hopeful. I started on a THC oil at night.

The first change I noticed was sleep. Real, uninterrupted sleep. Then slowly, the mornings didn’t feel so dreadful. The pain eased a little, then a little more.

What surprised me most was the shift in my mood. I felt lighter, more optimistic. I was laughing again. I was thinking about the future. And for the first time in years, I started to believe I could go back to work — and I did.

Over time, with support from my doctors, I was able to come off all the opiate drugs. Even my friends noticed. They said I seemed brighter, more present — like the old me had come back. I got my life back, and I got my smile back too. That meant more than I can explain.

Medical cannabis didn’t cure me. But it gave me back the parts of life I thought I’d lost.
